Antenatal Class 5

Week 30

Today's lesson touches on the breastfeeding and bottlefeeding. Very useful breastfeeding tips from KK Hospital.

Tummy has expanded by 1.5 inch in a week! I've been feeling Braxton Hicks these few days. The whole abdomen will harden for less than 30 seconds. I'm a bit worried so keep telling ah boy to be patient and put on more fats, daddy and mummy will only want to see him in 8 to 10 weeks time.

Antenatal Class 4

Week 27

Today's topic is practical hands-on baby care. We are taught how to carry our baby, bathe him, change him, soothe him, interact with him. I love best the session where you play games with him to create a bond. Remember to take more action pictures that we can talk about when baby grows up. We are also taught some interesting rhymes. Here's one (in Hokkien/Teo Chew dialect):

This little Piggy Rhyme and more

A good old favourite which can be great fun if played when drying a small child after it's bath. As you are saying it, you "tweak" each toe in turn, starting with the largest:

Biggest toe: This little piggy went to market.

Next toe: This little piggy stayed at home.

Next toe: This little piggy had roast beef.

Next toe: This little piggy had none.

Small toe: And this little piggy cried "wheee wheeee wheee" all the way home.

Whilst saying "wheee, whee, whee all the way home" you run your fingers up their chest and tickle them under the chin.

Baby Development at Week 26

Week 26

Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds; measures about 14 inches from head to heel; and hears noises, responds to light, and is generally more aware of its surroundings. In the same way that you can see a flashlight if you hold it against your palm, your baby can see the light coming through your belly. You may notice increased activity when in brighter light and decreased activity in darkened rooms. Its hearing is fully developed, and as he or she reacts to sounds, its pulse increases. Your baby will even move in rhythm to music! (Adapted from PregnancyWeekly)

Its lungs are developing now, too, as it continues to take small breaths of amniotic fluid — good practice for when it's born and takes that first breath of air. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days. (Adapted from BabyCentre)

Antenatal Class 3

Week 25

Today's lesson touch on labour and delivery as well as a recap of the stretching exercises and breathing relaxation. I had a shock upon seeing the videotape cause the labour process looks real scary. Uh...! Mrs Wong gave us a tour of the delivery suites in TMC. Must remember to bring jacket for Ken to keep warm in the freezing ward and a nice cd for myself to relax during contractions.

Antenatal Class 2

Week 24

Today's lesson talks about physiological approach to breathing relaxation, changes in pregnancy leading to signs & symptoms of labour and the alternative types of pain relief in labour.

After the class, Mrs Wong brought us outside the nursery room to show us how she plays with a 2 day old baby. She's so lovely with big round eyes and a crown of shiny black hair.

I've found a link from KK Hospital which talks more about pain relief in labour as well as caring for yourself and your baby after delivery.

Antenatal Class 1

Week 23

Daddy and mummy truly enjoy the class conducted Mrs Wong Boh Boi from TMC. Our class starts at 4:30pm and ends at 7:15pm today. She told us that Daddy's role is to be a supporter, a doula (midwife) as well as our cheerleader. He's great, isn't he?!! We are taught how to communicate with you by playing a tapping and butterfly game on Mummy's tummy.

We are also taught some stretching exercise. This is one of them to strengthen the chest (Mummy's of couse!)

It's a boy!

Week 20

It's our wedding anniversary today and we are very excited mainly because we are going to TMC for our baby's week 20 detail scan.
During the ultrasound, we confirmed the gender and YES! It's a boy just as we have predicted from the gender prediction site.

We see our prince charming drinking water, scratching his head, then playing with his legs using his hands and finally he did a somersault for us to see. It's so cool! The whole process took about 25 min. We had a good time. Wanna see the prince himself?

pop pop pop

Week 19

Pop! Pop! What's that?! I think I felt you move! It comes upon me that it wasn't quite the same as indigestion or gas. It feels like a big bubble popping in the tummy. This is so exciting! I'm starting to feel your kicks and punches in week 19 though it's mild. I know I'm definitely going to feel more strong ones in the next few months.
